Add prompts by pasting a list, uploading a CSV, generating them from a URL, or importing the keywords you and your competitors rank for. Plus editing, bulk actions and keyword data.
Every prompt belongs to one domain and runs on its own schedule, in one country, against the engines you pick. You can add prompts one at a time or hundreds at once, and change any of their settings later. If you are not sure what to track yet, read choosing the right prompts first.
Click New prompt in the top bar of the Dashboard, Prompts or Competitors page. The Add prompts dialog offers three methods side by side.
Paste prompts
Type or paste your prompts into the box, one prompt per line. Empty lines are ignored and the counter shows how many prompts were detected.

Upload CSV
Drop a CSV file or browse for one. The file needs a single prompt column, UTF-8 encoded, with up to 1,000 rows. A prompt header row is detected and skipped. Use Download template for a file in the right shape.

Generate from URL
Enter a Website URL (your homepage, a product page, a category page) and click Generate. AmICited analyzes the page and proposes prompts your buyers are likely to ask AI; tick the ones to keep.
At the same time it looks up the Top ranking keywords for that URL on Google, with volume, position, CPC, competition, keyword difficulty and estimated traffic. Tick any keyword to track it as a prompt too. The keyword lookup runs for the country selected in the dialog.
Schedule. How often the prompt re-runs, from hourly to one_time. The default is daily. More frequent cadences use more credits; see run frequency.
Country. Where the prompt is asked from, which also sets the answer language. Default United States. See countries and languages.
Tag. Optional. Pick an existing tag, type a new name to create one, or open Manage tags. See tags.
AI providers. Leave all selected to track every engine your plan includes (new engines are then added automatically), or untick some to restrict this batch. See AI engines.
The dialog remembers your last country, tag, schedule and providers for next time. Click Add prompts to save. New prompts are queued straight away and results appear as each engine answers.
During setup. The setup wizard suggests prompts from your homepage and lists Keywords you rank for. See add a domain.
From a competitor. On the Competitors page, Add Competitor takes a competitor URL, and Get top keywords lists what that site ranks for. Selected keywords become prompts when you click Add competitor + {n} prompts. See competitors.
From an AI agent. Connected agents can create prompts through the MCP server, for example “add these 20 questions as weekly prompts tagged comparison”.
A prompt is unique per domain, country and text. Adding the same text again in the same country is silently skipped, so re-uploading a CSV is safe. The same text in a different country is a separate prompt, which is how you track one question across markets.
Each plan caps prompts per domain (Starter 200, Pro 800, Premium 3,200, Enterprise unlimited). The whole batch is checked against the cap before anything is saved: if it would go over, the dialog tells you how many your plan tracks and how many the domain already has, and nothing is added. Remove some prompts or upgrade.
After a prompt’s first run, AmICited looks up Google Ads keyword data for the prompt text and its fan-out queries: search volume, CPC and competition (0 to 100). It appears in the Keyword data column of the Prompts table. Texts longer than about 10 words or 80 characters cannot be looked up and show no volume. Each looked-up keyword costs 0.005 credits; results already in the cache are free. See credits.
On the Prompts page each row has an edit (pencil) and delete action. Edit prompt lets you change the text, schedule, country, tag and AI providers of one prompt. You can also change the schedule from the prompt’s detail page.
Select several rows with the checkboxes to open the bulk bar:
Tag: apply one tag to all selected prompts.
Frequency: set a new schedule for all of them.
Process now: run them immediately instead of waiting for the next scheduled run. Prompts already processing are skipped. This spends credits like any run.
Delete: remove the prompts and their tracking history. This cannot be undone.
Prompt statuses in the table show whether a prompt is queued, processing or failed. A failed run is retried automatically after about five minutes.
# Adding prompts
Add prompts by pasting a list, uploading a CSV, generating them from a URL, or importing the keywords you and your competitors rank for. Plus editing, bulk actions and keyword data.
Every prompt belongs to one domain and runs on its own schedule, in one country, against the engines you pick. You can add prompts one at a time or hundreds at once, and change any of their settings later. If you are not sure what to track yet, read [choosing the right prompts](/docs/setup/choosing-prompts/) first.
## Open the Add prompts dialog
Click **New prompt** in the top bar of the Dashboard, Prompts or Competitors page. The **Add prompts** dialog offers three methods side by side.
Type or paste your prompts into the box, **one prompt per line**. Empty lines are ignored and the counter shows how many prompts were detected.
```text
Drop a CSV file or browse for one. The file needs a **single `prompt` column**, UTF-8 encoded, with up to **1,000 rows**. A `prompt` header row is detected and skipped. Use **Download template** for a file in the right shape.
```csv {title="prompts.csv"}

Larger lists need splitting into several files of 1,000 rows or fewer.
Enter a **Website URL** (your homepage, a product page, a category page) and click **Generate**. AmICited analyzes the page and proposes prompts your buyers are likely to ask AI; tick the ones to keep.
At the same time it looks up the **Top ranking keywords** for that URL on Google, with volume, position, CPC, competition, keyword difficulty and estimated traffic. Tick any keyword to track it as a prompt too. The keyword lookup runs for the country selected in the dialog.
## Set the options for the batch
Every prompt in one batch gets the same settings:
- **Schedule.** How often the prompt re-runs, from `hourly` to `one_time`. The default is `daily`. More frequent cadences use more credits; see [run frequency](/docs/setup/run-frequency/).
- **Country.** Where the prompt is asked from, which also sets the answer language. Default United States. See [countries and languages](/docs/setup/countries-and-languages/).
- **Tag.** Optional. Pick an existing tag, type a new name to create one, or open **Manage tags**. See [tags](/docs/setup/tags/).
- **AI providers.** Leave all selected to track every engine your plan includes (new engines are then added automatically), or untick some to restrict this batch. See [AI engines](/docs/setup/ai-engines/).
The dialog remembers your last country, tag, schedule and providers for next time. Click **Add prompts** to save. New prompts are queued straight away and results appear as each engine answers.
## Other ways to add prompts
- **During setup.** The setup wizard suggests prompts from your homepage and lists **Keywords you rank for**. See [add a domain](/docs/setup/add-a-domain/).
- **From a competitor.** On the Competitors page, **Add Competitor** takes a competitor URL, and **Get top keywords** lists what that site ranks for. Selected keywords become prompts when you click **Add competitor + {n} prompts**. See [competitors](/docs/setup/competitors/).
- **From an AI agent.** Connected agents can create prompts through the [MCP server](/docs/mcp/connect/), for example "add these 20 questions as weekly prompts tagged comparison".

## Keyword data

Each looked-up keyword costs 0.005 credits; results already in the cache are free. See [credits](/docs/account/credits/).
## Edit, retag and re-run
On the Prompts page each row has an edit (pencil) and delete action. **Edit prompt** lets you change the text, schedule, country, tag and AI providers of one prompt. You can also change the schedule from the prompt's detail page.
