Troubleshooting

Why is my visibility zero?

A visibility score of 0% usually has a setup cause, not a reputation one. The six causes in the order to check them, with how to confirm each and how to fix it.

A visibility score of 0% means that in the selected period and filters, no AI answer to any of your tracked prompts named your brand. Sometimes that is the true state of things. More often something in the setup is hiding the mentions that exist. Work through the causes below in order: they are sorted by how often they turn out to be the answer.

1. The first answers have not landed yet#

Right after onboarding you see the setup screen (“Crawling the AI web for {brand}”) until the first AI answer arrives. After that the dashboard unlocks, but prompts keep filling in engine by engine. A prompt with a weekly or monthly schedule may have run only once.

  • Check. On Prompts, look at each prompt’s status: new, pending and processing prompts have no answers yet. In a prompt’s detail, engines that have not run show as “not run yet”.
  • Fix. Wait for the first full cycle of your run frequency. A daily schedule gives a fair first read after a day or two.

2. Filters or the date range exclude your data#

Every KPI respects the engine, country, tag and date filters. Filtering to one engine that has not cited you, a tag with no prompts, or a window before your first run gives 0%.

  • Check. Clear every filter on the Dashboard and set the widest date range. If the score is no longer zero, a filter was the cause.
  • Fix. Nothing to fix. Keep the filter in mind when you share the number.

3. Your domain is out of credits or paused#

When the workspace credit balance runs out, the domain becomes credit-blocked: scheduled runs stop and no new data is collected. The dashboard says “Your domain is inactive” with the cause (credits ran out, or the subscription was cancelled or paused).

  • Check. Look for that notice on the Dashboard, or “You’re out of credits” in the side menu.
  • Fix. Top up credits or reactivate the plan. Tracking resumes automatically. See credits.

4. The brand name does not match how engines name you#

A mention counts as yours when the brand named in the answer matches the brand name or domain name set on your domain, after normalization. If your brand is set to “Acme Analytics Inc.” but engines write “Acme”, or you rebranded and engines still use the old name, answers that clearly talk about you are not counted.

  • Check. The Domains page shows the brand in the Brand column. Open a prompt where you expect to appear and read the answers: are you named in a form that differs from that brand?
  • Fix. Set the brand to the name engines actually use. The brand is set when you add the domain; to change it later, ask a connected agent to update the domain, or contact us.

5. You are cited as a source but never named#

Visibility counts brand mentions: your brand named in the answer text. An engine can link to your page as a source without naming you. That shows up in share of citation and on Sources, but not in visibility.

  • Check. On Sources, search for your domain. If it appears there while visibility is zero, this is the cause.
  • Fix. Make the brand explicit on the cited pages (name the product in headings and summaries, not only in the logo), so engines that use the page also name you. See mentions vs. citations.

6. The prompts are ones you cannot win yet#

If the steps above check out, the zero is real. Common patterns: every prompt is a broad category query dominated by established brands, prompts describe a category you are not in, or prompts are in a country where you have no presence.

  • Check. Open a few prompts and read which brands and sources are named. On Competitors, the share of voice chart shows every brand detected.
  • Fix. Rebalance the set toward specific, buyer-intent prompts where you have a real answer (see choosing prompts), then work the not-ranked prompts list: get onto the sites engines cite and publish pages that answer the prompt directly.

Ask an agent to run the checks

With the MCP server connected, ask: “Use the ai-visibility-audit skill to explain why example.com has zero visibility.” The agent checks which engines ran, per prompt, before concluding.
