How Often Is Slack Mentioned by AI Search Engines?

AI search engines mention Slack in 2.0% of their answers to AmICited’s 1,905 tracked prompts — most in Gemini (2.7%), least in Google AI Overviews (1.0%), and it is the #36 most-mentioned brand of 17,946.

Between June 24, 2026 and July 23, 2026, AmICited ran 1,905 tracked prompts through five AI search engines and recorded every AI brand mention each answer named. Slack was mentioned in 378 of 19,279 responses — a 2.0% mention rate — making it the #36 most-mentioned brand of 17,946 across the whole tracked set. A “mention” counts whether or not the answer linked to Slack: in AI search, being named is a distinct and often larger prize than being linked. The sections below break Slack’s presence down by engine, by query, by link status, and over time.

The “default integration” pattern

Slack’s 93% name-only rate puts it in the same bucket as PayPal (96% name-only) and Stripe (94%) — brands so deeply embedded as the default choice in their category that AI engines mention them the way they’d mention a standard feature, not a considered recommendation. Look at the query list below: Slack rarely appears because a prompt asked “what’s the best team chat app” (a question AmICited’s tracked prompts barely contain, because the market has already settled that question). Instead it shows up as a checklist item — “which helpdesk tool integrates with Slack,” “which no-code tool connects to Slack” — the assumed integration partner in someone else’s buying decision, not the product being evaluated itself.

That’s a structurally different opportunity than the brands earlier in this series with high linked rates (Bloomreach at 78% linked, for instance). A tool this established doesn’t need to fight for mentions — its work is making sure every other tool answers “yes” when an AI-generated shortlist asks whether it integrates with Slack.

Slack mention rate by AI engine

Slack mention rate across the AI engines

Slack’s AI visibility is strongly engine-dependent. Gemini names it most, in 2.7% of its answers, while Google AI Overviews trails at 1.0% — a 3× gap between the same brand’s best and worst engine. The other engines average 1.6%. That spread matters practically: a brand can lead in one assistant and be nearly invisible in another, so “AI visibility” is never a single number — it is a per-engine scorecard, and Slack sits above the cross-engine norm here.

The questions that surface Slack

Slack mentions concentrate in specific queries: 94 of 1,898 tracked prompts (5%) produced at least one Slack mention. These are the kinds of questions that pull Slack into AI answers — several overlap with the query themes in AmICited’s live chat & helpdesk software comparison , since support tooling is one of Slack’s most common integration contexts:

  • “Best help desk software with live chat, ticketing, and call center for a small support team?”
  • “What tool helps a team manage dream interpretations and card readings with shared access?”
  • “Recommend a service to track my company’s presence in AI chatbot answers in real time”
  • “Best tools to automate lead generation and pipeline management for small businesses?”
  • “How can I automate customer support with an AI chatbot and still hand off to humans?”
  • “What no-code AI tools can automate SEO content and publishing for a marketing team?”
  • “FlowHunt vs other AI agent platforms for marketing teams: what are the differences?”

That is where Slack already owns share of voice — and the query themes a competitor would have to contest to displace it. One entry is worth a second look: “Recommend a service to track my company’s presence in AI chatbot answers in real time” is, more or less, someone asking for AmICited itself — and the assistant’s answer happened to mention Slack, presumably as a notification/integration channel for the recommended tool. It’s a small reminder that this whole data series is built from the same machinery it’s describing: AI engines naming tools (sometimes including tools adjacent to AmICited’s own category) inside answers to open-ended prompts.

Is Slack linked, or just named?

Of the times Slack is referenced, 7% include a link and 93% are name-only (no citation). That heavy name-only share is typical: assistants routinely recommend a brand by name without offering a click — which is exactly the visibility that link-only citation tracking misses. For Slack, the practical read is that most of its AI visibility is influence without a click.

Slack mentions over time

Daily Slack mention rate in Gemini

Tracked day by day in Gemini (its strongest engine), Slack’s mention rate moves around its 2.7% average with daily prompt volume rather than showing a clear trend across this window. A month is too short to call a durable direction, but this is the baseline series you would watch to catch a real gain or slide in Slack’s AI share of voice.

What this means for AI-search visibility

If Slack is your brand, this is your AI share-of-voice baseline: 2.0% overall, strongest in Gemini, and mostly name-only. But the more actionable read for most companies reading this page isn’t Slack’s own number — it’s what Slack’s presence in other products’ queries implies. If you sell SaaS software and want to show up in AI answers, “does it integrate with Slack” is exactly the kind of feature question worth making unambiguously easy for an assistant to answer “yes” to, ideally from your own indexed documentation rather than a third-party comparison page — see how SaaS companies get AI visibility for the broader playbook.

For Slack itself, or a workplace-chat challenger, the strategic question this page raises is different from the earlier brands in this series: you’re not trying to win a head-to-head naming contest, you’re trying to be the assumed-default answer inside other companies’ feature-comparison content — which is a slower, more indirect form of AI visibility to build than publishing a single case study.

Because these figures come from AmICited’s tracked prompts (weighted toward SaaS, e-commerce and support topics — see who ChatGPT cites most for SaaS/marketing tool queries for a related view), they describe Slack’s standing for that kind of question; a different audience’s prompt mix could shift the numbers, which is why tracking your own prompts is the only way to know your true position.

Methodology

Computed from AmICited’s 1,905 tracked prompts (June 24, 2026 – July 23, 2026, 2026) across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Gemini. A response “mentions Slack” when AmICited’s brand detection identifies the brand in the answer text, whether or not a link is present; each response is counted once. The per-engine rate is mentioning-responses over that engine’s total responses; the overall figure pools all five. The link-vs-name-only split counts individual brand references. Microsoft Copilot is tracked but returned no citation data in this window. No external links appear in this report.
